UK Navy ship visits Karachi, conducts drills with Pak Navy

The UK and Pakistani navies conducted a joint drill in the northern Arabian Sea, the Pakistan Navy said on Wednesday. According to a statement, the drill, which covered a "wide range of naval operations," was held on the completion of the visit of the UK Navy's ship HMS Richmond to Karachi port.

The United Kingdom (UK) ship HMS RICHMOND visited Karachi port and conducted naval exercises with Pakistan Navy.

The Ship was received by officials of the Pakistan Navy along with representatives of the British High Commission, said a Pakistan Navy media release. Pakistan Navy and UK Navy enjoy longstanding relations based on training, development, mutual interest and cooperation in naval affairs.

The visit of the UK Ship included harbor and sea phases

In the harbor phase, tabletop discussions on professional matters and bilateral interactions were held. On completion of port visit, sea exercise was conducted between Pakistan and UK Navy covering wide range of naval operations.

The exercise was aimed to enhance interoperability and contribute toward international efforts for ensuring maritime security in the region. UK Navy Ship visit to Karachi and joint naval drills is a testimony of PN’s resolve to work towards regional peace and it may further strengthen mutual collaboration between the two navies.

German Navy Ship FGS BAYERN (FFG-217) visited Karachi

Last month, German Navy Ship FGS BAYERN (FFG-217) visited Karachi on a four-day visit starting from 08-12 September aimed at commemorating 70 years of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Germany.

The four-day-long visit of FGS BAYERN (FFG-217) comprised of harbor and sea phase, said a Pakistan Navy press release.

The Harbor phase included various harbor events, social calls, visits to prominent places, tabletop discussions on professional topics, cross-ship visits and onboard receptions.

A delegation of the visiting German Ship visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam to pay tribute to the founder of Pakistan and laid a floral wreath.

On completion of Harbor phase bilateral exercise at sea was also conducted between ships of both navies to enhance interoperability of the two navies.

Pakistan and German Navies are partners in peace and striving to achieve safe and secure maritime environment. The recent visit of FGS BAYERN proved to be eventful and professionally rewarding for both the navies in addition to furthering of bilateral relations.

PNS ZULFIQUAR also visited the port of Hamburg Germany earlier in August 2021 to celebrate seven decades of bilateral relations between the two countries.
