Babar Azam wins ICC ODI’s Men Cricketer of Year & Cricketer of Year Award

Azam has become the only Pakistani cricketer to win the ICC ODI Player of the Year twice in a row, and the only Pakistani to win the two ICC Awards twice in a year.

Pakistani skipper Babar Azam wins ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year Award 2022 and Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2022, in what is called a befitting response to naysayers and critics.

Pakistani skipper has been named the ICC ODI Player of the Year for the second time in a row. He has also been declared the Cricketer of the Year 2022. Azam has become the only Pakistani cricketer to win the ICC ODI Player of the Year twice in a row, and the only Pakistani to win the two ICC Awards twice in a year.

Babar Azam achieved the awards after being named the captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2022. “There were match-winning knocks, spell-binding stroke-play, and memorable moments from a personal perspective and his team in 2022 as Pakistan skipper Babar Azam claimed ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year Award for a second consecutive year,” a statement released by the international cricket governing body said.

On the same day, he has also been declared the winner of the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for Men’s Cricketer of 2022. He is also the top batter in the ICC ODI batting rankings. Babar Azam is the fourth-best batter in the T20I ranking and 3rd in Tests.

The Pakistan skipper scored 2598 runs in 44 matches in 2022, averaging 54.12 with eight centuries and 15 half-centuries. He is the only player in history to score three consecutive ODI centuries twice.

Despite many results not going in favor of Pakistan, Pakistan under the captaincy of Babar Azam played the final of the T20 World Cup 2022 and Asia Cup final.

In 2022, Pakistan won all three ODI series played under the captaincy of Babar Azam. Pakistani cricketer is receiving praise from Indian sports journalists and cricket fans from across the border.
