Shah Rukh Khan attended the funeral of the singer. The picture of Shah Rukh Khan standing and a little bit bent over the dead body of Lata Mangeshkar while paying his last respects to the singer had gone viral on social media. The antagonists assumed that Shah Rukh Khan spits on the body of the singer when in fact, he was reciting some prayers for the singer.

It is a common practice among Muslims to recite prayers for the eternal peace of the deceased and to blow off air to ward off evil spirits after reciting prayers. Perhaps, Shah Rukh Khan blew out air from his mouth on the body of Mangeshkar after reciting some prayers for her eternal peace.

The news gained traction and several hateful comments were posted for the actor online. Khan did not retaliate to the online vitriol. A lot of Indian platforms are now debunking the fake news that Shah Rukh Khan spits on the body of Lata Mangeshkar.

His fans hit back at haters of Shah Rukh Khan and tweeted in his favor. “Shah Rukh Khan reading a dua and blowing on Lata Ji’s mortal remains for protection and blessings in the next life. Cannot comprehend the level of bitterness of those saying he is spitting,” wrote a fan of Shah Rukh Khan.

Lata Mangeshkar received a state funeral with thousands of mourners attending her last rites. She was wrapped in a tricolor Indian flag before being cremated. She had a prolific career of seven decades. The late singer sang in 35 languages.
