Govt to register all foreigners coming into Pakistan: Sheikh Rasheed

“There is no record of thousands of foreigners who entered the country during the last 70 years”.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad states the government has decided to register all foreigners coming to Pakistan from now on.

“There is no record of thousands of foreigners who entered the country during the last 70 years”.

Sheikh Rasheed who addressed the media earlier today in Islamabad had stated that foreign nations will now be allowed to open bank accounts, start businesses and will need SIM cards after being registered.

He mentioned that the official authorities had gathered information that several Afghan nationals were a part of 70,000 illegal immigrants living in Pakistan. He also added that the whereabouts of at least 40,000 to 50,000 illegal foreign nationals are still unknown for the last 70 years.

Sheikh Rashid says that a strategy is being prepared for stranded Pakistanis at Torkham Border. He said that issue of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) will be decided by the federal cabinet in its next meeting.

Referring to the upcoming elections that will take place in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, the minister confirmed that Prime Minister Imran Khan will be visiting the region for the election campaign.

“I will also participate in the campaign and go with the premier,” he added, and also that the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will form its government in the region

In regards to drug smuggling, the interior minister explained that it is a wrong perception that drugs are being smuggled from Pakistan to other countries.

“Being an Interior Minister, I assure that drugs are being smuggled into the country from outside”. In order to combat this issue Rashid said that a crackdown is in order and will take place on a large scale against drug mafia.

Talking about the going on relations with India Sheikh Rasheed has clearly stated that no talks with New Delhi are to be done until the restoration of occupied Kashmir’s special status.
