PML-N fails to copy PTI’s door-to-door campaign?

Many PTI leaders hit the streets in constituencies in which the by-polls are to be held and all of them were met with huge crowds. On the other hand, it seems the same cannot be said for PML-N.

With the Punjab polls around the corner, PTI and PML-N are racking up efforts to win public support. Both parties are taking to the streets and urging the public to vote for them by knocking on their doors.

However, it seems that the door-to-door campaign is not going too well for PML-N. Many PTI leaders hit the streets in constituencies in which the by-polls are to be held and all of them were met with huge crowds.

PTI leaders Hammad Azhar, Farrukh Habib, Qasim Suri, and Iron Lady Dr. Yasmin Rashid joined the party candidates in their respective constituencies and received overwhelming support. Important to note that PTI began its door-to-door campaign earlier this week.

On the other hand, it seems the same cannot be said for PML-N. Today, Hina Parvez Butt, a member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from PML-N, uploaded a video on Twitter of PML-N’s door-to-door campaign.

The video showed Ms. Hina standing in an empty street while PML-N workers knocked on the gates of houses. Interestingly, none of the residents answered. As a result, PML-N has become the target of trolling and criticism on social media.

“You do realize that in the video you posted, where you are boasting about how successful your ongoing door-to-door campaign is, nobody actually opened the door for you. If I were you, I’d have deleted this to avoid further embarrassment,” journalist Anas Malick tweeted.

Punjab by polls

Currently, all eyes are on the Punjab polls which are scheduled to be held on the 17th of July. The stage is set for PTI and PML-N who will compete for governance in Punjab.

The polls are scheduled on 20 seats of the Punjab Assembly where PTI had won in the 2018 general elections and its MPAs had later defected to the PML-N and faced disqualification.

According to the latest development, PTI has bagged five more seats in the Punjab Assembly after the ECP issued notifications of reserved seats, giving the party an edge over its rival, the PML-N.

This increases the seats for PTI to 163 from 158. On the other hand, four of PML-N MPAs had previously rebelled against the party leadership, of which two are still undecided about staying with the PML-N. This leaves the PML-N with only 163 MPAs.
