PTI leaders are urging party workers and supporters to prepare for the protest outside the Punjab Governor House. The protest will take place today at 5:00 pm.

The political crisis has deepened in Punjab after the governor and PA speaker rejected each other’s rulings regarding the no-trust voting and summoning of a special session for vote of confidence today.

As a result, PTI announced the protest outside the Governor’s House at 5pm today to stop the governor from taking any ‘unconstitutional step’. To clarify, PML-N has announced that the Punjab governor will denotify CM Parvez Elahi over his failure to obtain the vote of confidence from the House by 4pm today.

Outside the Punjab Governor House today (Thursday), PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan will also announce a new plan of action.

In a bid to counter the PTI protest, the Ministry of Interior in the wee hours of Thursday sought the deployment of Rangers to protect the Governor House, Lahore.

The interior ministry has written a letter to Director General Rangers Punjab for deployment of sufficient strength of Pakistan Rangers for protection of Governor’s House, Lahore, under section 7 (b) and 10 of the Pakistan Rangers Ordinance, 1959, and section 4 (3) (i) of Anti-terrorism Act, 1997.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah also issued directives to the provincial chief secretary and inspector general (IG) to maintain law and order. The Interior Minister has instructed the Punjab chief secretary and police chief to protect people’s lives and property.
